Campus Life is a Service Division that supports an engaging and inclusive campus experience for students at The University of Auckland. Campus Life operates a range of ‘wellbeing services’, such as Accommodation, Counselling and Health Services, that are aimed at removing personal barriers to academic success. It also operates ‘engagement’ services such as support for student organisations, social and sporting events, volunteering and leadership support that are aimed at helping students to maximise the non-classroom dimensions of the university experience.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
He Āhuru Mōwai, our Māori Student Support Centre, plays a vital role in ensuring tauira Māori feel welcomed, supported, and empowered throughout their university journey. We are looking for a Māori Student Adviser to provide exceptional pastoral care and engagement, supporting tauira Māori to succeed academically, socially, and personally.
As the first point of contact for many students and their whānau, you will offer advice, connect tauira to the right support services, and help foster a strong sense of belonging. You will also assist with engagement initiatives, events, and operational activities that enhance the student experience.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position.
Remuneration is $62,000 - $77,800 depending on skills and experience.

He Āhuru Mōwai is a dedicated Māori student support space within the University, offering a culturally safe and welcoming environment for tauira Māori. Guided by manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, our team is committed to ensuring tauira Māori have the support and resources they need to thrive.
He kōrero mōu | About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting Māori student success and is confident engaging with tauira Māori and their whānau. You will be approachable, culturally competent, and able to foster meaningful relationships across the University.
Ngā Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
- Experience in student support, pastoral care, customer service, or administration
- Knowledge and understanding of tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori values
- Strong relationship-building skills with tauira Māori, staff, and external stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on manaakitanga
- Organisational skills with the ability to coordinate events and engagement initiatives
- Proficiency in using databases and student support systems (preferred)
- Fluency or strong proficiency in Te Reo Māori (preferred)
