Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
Are you passionate about data analysis, pricing, and working with complex systems? We are looking for a dedicated Rating Engines Analyst to join our team at IAG. This role is crucial in implementing pricing strategies and ensuring the accuracy of our rating engines, which are integral to our business operations.
In this role, you'll support the Pricing Portfolio Manager and Lead Rating Engine in implementing, testing, maintaining, monitoring, and supporting pricing and underwriting rules. You'll build and implement moderately complex pricing and underwriting rules within IAG Rating Engines, including Duck Creek Technologies, Guidewire, and Earnix. Your tasks will include transforming business requirements into technical designs, building and testing projects, and responding to pricing enquiries with accurate information.
You'll also engage with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of quality products, identify and raise risks, and contribute to process improvements. Furthermore, you'll produce design documentation, maintain training materials, and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
This is a full-time permanent position and is open to IAG office locations in Aotearoa, New Zealand with a preference for those based in Auckland.

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have the following skills:
- Ability to influence stakeholders externally and internally across the value chain to drive change.
- Commercial acumen, balancing improvement initiatives with stakeholder and regulatory needs.
- Understanding of insurance pricing activities, practices, tools, and techniques to set prices for premiums.
- Familiarity with methodologies, tools, and techniques for personal injury and casualty product lines.
- Proficiency in analysing potential risk exposures and determining coverage.
- Ability to assess customer needs and provide effective solutions.
- Knowledge of risk control methods and techniques to develop plans and management programs to control losses.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, JIRA, Confluence) is desirable but not mandatory. A willingness to learn and adapt is crucial.
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, and relevant industry or specialist qualifications (e.g., ANZIIF).
