Our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) team plays a critical role in maintaining track integrity, and we’re looking for motivated individuals to start their career as a Trainee NDT Operator. He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
As a Trainee NDT Operator, you’ll receive full training to inspect and assess the condition of railway tracks using advanced testing equipment. Working alongside experienced professionals, you’ll gain practical skills in identifying potential rail defects to keep our network safe. This role involves working outdoors in varying conditions, collaborating with teams, and applying strict safety procedures.

We’re looking for individuals who are:
Keen to learn and develop a career in rail safety.
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety.
Able to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Hold a full, clean driver’s licence, with the ability to obtain a class 2 licence in the future.
A willingness to travel when needed.
Physical fitness and the ability to work in all weather conditions.
Previous experience in a technical or engineering field is a bonus but not required – we’ll provide all the training you need!
