Pool Compliance Officer Opportunity - Make a Splash in Your Career!

Are you ready to take the plunge into a role that combines technical expertise with community safety? We're seeking a dedicated Kaitiaki Whakamana Puna Kaukau - Pool Compliance Officer to join our Building Compliance team at the Civic Centre.

As our Pool Compliance Officer, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring pool safety in our community. This role offers a unique blend of technical know-how, customer service, and public safety advocacy. Here's your chance to make waves in a meaningful career!

You will deliver solutions-focused, customer-responsive technical building advice for pool-related enquiries and conduct thorough inspections of existing pools to mitigate immediate dangers. Your responsibilities will also include completing inspections of all pools within a three-year period and working constructively with pool owners to ensure and maintain legislative compliance. Additionally, you will manage and maintain robust records and databases related to pool inspections, report trends and immediate dangers to the Team Leader, and respond to and resolve swimming pool-related complaints promptly.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant qualification or has experience in a building or compliance role. You should demonstrate an understanding of relevant legislation, such as the Building Act, Fencing of Swimming Pools Act, and Building Code. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a commitment to integrated consenting and compliance functions. Experience in building control in a council or private sector environment is highly valued. You should also demonstrate cultural awareness when interacting with Te Arawa and all Māori stakeholders.
