Job Description

BestStart Aidanfield is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Centre Administrator to join our close-knit and energetic team. We are committed to providing high-quality education and care for the children in our community.

Our small, home-like centre features three classrooms, a team of long-standing, dedicated staff, and an onsite cook who prepares nutritious meals daily. Located in a supportive and friendly community, we offer a spacious outdoor area next to a park where children can explore and play. Our curriculum is enriched by the natural beauty of the Port Hills, Te Waihora, and the Canterbury Plains—areas of cultural and environmental significance to the local iwi and native wildlife.

About the Role

As a Centre Administrator, you will play a key role in ensuring our centre operates smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing outstanding customer service to families
  • Managing data entry, bookings, and parent queries
  • Handling parent accounts, direct debits, and payments
  • Meeting daily, weekly, and termly deadlines with strong attention to detail
  • Using Word, Excel, and other IT systems efficiently
  • Occasionally assisting in classrooms when needed


You will have the support of a National Admin Support team, including a helpdesk for ongoing assistance, as well as thorough training on Ministry of Education requirements.

Role Details

  • Permanent position working 20–25 hours per week
  • Preferred schedule: Monday to Friday (flexibility to work over four days for the right candidate)
