Principal Advisor – Ministerial Services
Our Ministerial Services team play a crucial role in managing Inland Revenue’s (IR) requests under the Official Information Act, providing timely, expert advice and support to IR and the Minister of Revenue’s office.

• We have an exciting opportunity for a Domain Principal to play a pivotal role in supporting our Minister, the Commissioner and Executive Leadership Team meet our parliamentary and statutory obligations.

Ara Whiwhi Mahi | The Opportunity
This role provides the opportunity to create strong relationships across Inland Revenue, problem solve and provide robust advice on Ministerial Servicing matters, such as the Official Information Act (OIA), Parliamentary Questions and other Parliamentary processes.

You will:

• Provide advice, guidance, analysis and lead delivery across Ministerial Services, in order to ensure the OIA and Ministerial systems and processes which IR operates are effective and efficient
• Identify and support the management of key strategic risks
• Act as an escalation point to resolve complex issues and ensure the integrity of the advice provided
• Provide advice and guidance in order to uplift the OIA and Ministerial capability across IR and the wider public sector to support better outcomes
• Identify emerging trends and provide thought leadership to support the development of innovative customer solutions
• Use your specialist expertise to coach and mentor others to grow their capability to achieve better outcomes.

• Have strong political nous and the ability to make quality decisions under pressure while managing competing priorities
• Have proven experience in developing, improving and refining key processes and systems
• Have proven ability to coach and mentor others to achieve the desired outcomes.

Previous experience in providing expert technical capability on matters concerning the Official Information Act, and Parliamentary processes, as well as sound knowledge about the machinery of government, would be an advantage.
