About the role

We have an exciting career opportunity for an Assistant Village Manager to join our dedicated team at our Kapiti Village based in Wellinton. Reporting to the Village Manager, you will have responsibility for assisting with all aspects of the village, including service delivery, finances and staff management. Our residents are always at the heart of what we do so your customer focused, engaging energetic, and resilient manner will ensure you are the go-to person for our residents, their families and our friendly staff.

Some of the great things you will be doing

  • Demonstrate a respectful style of leadership that facilitates operational efficiency, profitability, appropriate people and management practices
  • Maintain appropriate and effective levels of communication and consultation with residents
  • Assist and support our Village Manager in developing business plans for service and product delivery
  • Assist in ensuring risk management is conducted in a professional and proactive manner in order to minimise any exposure


About you

You are passionate about village operations and are people orientated having residents at the centre of your focus. Some things that will support your application:

  • Previous experience assisting or involvement in the operational management of a "people" business
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to build meaningful relationships with residents, staff and internal/external customers
  • Excellent financial acumen, including sales focus and P&L ownership
  • Strategic planning experience to be able to contribute to the big picture, but equally able to look outside the industry to innovate
  • Previous contractor management (such as gardeners, F&B, deliveries, couriers, trades, 3rd party providers, security etc) would be advantageous
  • Whilst not essential, previous experience in the retirement village sector would be advantageous
