Payroll Officer
Exciting opportunity to join Inland Revenues Payroll Team
Full time, Permanent role based in either Upper Hutt or Wellington
Ara Whiwhi Mahi | The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Service Owner – Payroll, this role provides support to the Payroll function. This role is based either in Upper Hutt or Wellington and is currently a hybrid role.
Your responsibilities will include utilising your experience with SAP / other large payroll systems working on various initiatives to ensure compliance with changing business & legislative needs.
You will need to be flexible, agile and good at building relationships in a large complex environment. You will possess a strong background in the more complex areas of Payroll including the application of legislation and employment agreements. Prior experience with a large payroll system is essential and preferably SAP. Practical experience in problem solving and managing larger volumes of processing to tight deadlines is essential and key to your success in this role.
Training for approximately one month will be based in our Upper Hutt office.

To be successful, you must demonstrate the following:
- Prefer previous SAP experience working with a complex payroll for a large organisation. (1000+ employees).
- Ability to work accurately and to tight deadlines is essential as is the use of excel to an intermediate level.
- Sound understanding of New Zealand payroll related legislation and its application to payroll systems and supporting processes.
- Strong track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers and peers gaining their trust and respect.
- Strong track record of delivering results.
- Experience in successfully developing and implementing improvements to payroll process that ensure the best possible customer and compliance outcomes and providing effective training to others would be an advantage.
