Mo te tūranga | About the Role:

Reporting into the Head of Financial Risk Oversight you will Act as a Subject Matter Expert on the full range of regulations applicable to credit risk management including RBNZ and APRA prudential requirements (RBNZ Capital Adequacy BPRs, APS 220, APS 113), lending restrictions (BS19 and BS20), and conduct-related regulations (CCCFA, CoFI).

You will be responsible for:

  • A demonstrably compliant credit operating environment.
  • Sustainably compliant processes, controls and compliance arrangements embedded within the CRM team.
  • Ensure compliance arrangements such as policies, validated models and accurate data are implemented and maintained, inspecting and directing relevant assurance to confirm.
  • Timely escalation of material matters and systemic issues as they are identified through the course of business.
  • Proactive influencing and collaboration to resolve any credit compliance-related material matters and systemic issues.
  • Act as a risk culture role model and demonstrate leadership across the CRM team.


Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau? | What do I need to be successful?

  • 5+ Years of financial risk or non-financial risk management. Ideally with experience in credit risk types
  • Expert-level technical expertise on compliance and lending processes.
  • Strong negotiation and consensus building skills when dealing with internal customers, stakeholders and team members, as well as the ability to build relationships across functional lines.
  • Strong leader who demonstrates a curiosity mindset and an ability to create a team culture of the same.
  • Organisational agility, ability to traverse the organisation at a senior level on a range of issues, ensuring alignment of the senior leadership team.
  • Courage to challenge the status quo through challenging stakeholder conversations and an openness to make change based on feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, an ability to convey key messages with maximum impact appropriate for the varied audiences.
