As a member of ASB's Financial Crime Operations team you will drive operational excellence in the way we help protect ASB and its customers from the impact of Financial Crime. You will contribute in a meaningful way to the protection of Aotearoa New Zealand from organised crime, modern slavery, and other activity which places New Zealand at risk.

We are looking for a Senior Manager in our Financial Crime Business Performance & Remediation (FCO Office) team to be based at North Wharf.

Mo te tūranga | About the Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for the following key outcomes:

  • Coordinate the Financial Crime Operations Committee (FCOC), including preparing meeting packs and minutes while promoting continuous improvement.
  • Lead the development of reporting content and high-quality written documents to ensure consistent, timely and accurate messaging across relevant forums (Committees, SteerCo's, Board, etc.)
  • Support the development, analyses and delivery of insightful operational, risk and remediation reporting to enable timely and effective decisioning alongside key stakeholders.
  • Adopt and promote the use of best practice tools and techniques to enable the delivery of timely insights, improving accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure Compliance obligations applicable to FCO (along with relevant Regulatory Change) are well understood and managed effectively.
  • Provide operational Risk Management support in collaboration with the Line 1 Risk team across areas such as RMD, Risk Assessments, RIC, Issue and Incidents.
  • Develop an effective communication plan and execute.
  • Support the FCO Leadership Team with the development, delivery and maintenance of long-term plans.
  • Provide business management support across key FCO initiatives and activities.

Working as the Senior Manager FCO Office - Risk & Governance, you will need to have strong commercial acumen and excellent verbal & written presentation skills. This will require you to produce robust, clear, and detailed decision-making papers to executive leadership teams and senior stakeholders in the business. Along with this, we are ideally looking for someone with the following skills:

  • Deep understanding of compliance/operational risk frameworks and how to effectively apply in an operational context. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (eg. AML / CFT & Sanctions, CoFI).
  • Excellent communication & interaction skills (verbal, written, listening & non-verbal)
  • High level of accuracy and an ability to interpret how information fits into a larger context, the details that are important and how to connect abstract opportunities
  • Leadership, negotiation, influencing skills, and an ability to navigate through complexity with an agile mindset
  • High attention to detail and experience with benefit & value reporting
  • Strong time management skills and an ability to challenge the status quo, generating solutions or ideas
