We are seeking a passionate Senior Software Engineer - Mobile (Android) to join our high-performing team.

Mo te tūranga | About the role: 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and own the creation of mobile digital experiences that set the standard for innovation, accessibility, and usability.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams including security, risk, and design to deliver high-quality products in line with ASB's standards and practices.
  • Contribute to sprint planning by translating technical requirements into actionable tasks, prioritising work, and estimating delivery timelines.
  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing within your team, improve the peer learning culture, and provide mentorship to junior developers.
  • Advocate for and deliver high-quality, accessible, and secure mobile solutions, following SDLC practices and incorporating continuous improvements to processes and deliverables.
  • Ensure integration with ASB's existing systems adheres to best practices while driving improvements to optimise the bank's development processes.
  • Contribute to maintaining and improving technical documentation, shared component libraries, and other valuable resources.


Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau? | What do I need to be successful? 

  • 5+ years of experience in mobile development, with a strong focus on Android (Java, Kotlin, Dagger, Hilt, Jetpack Compose, Navigation Components, Android SDK).
  • Solid understanding of design patterns like MVP, MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Android Architecture Components. Deep knowledge of secure development practices, including OWASP principles.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on driving collaboration across teams and building lasting relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a growth mindset and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
  • Strong advocate for testing best practices, and a passion for building robust and scalable mobile applications.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage sprints, ensuring the successful delivery of features on time and within quality standards.
