Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Service Technician to join our Christchurch team. This hands-on role is ideal for candidates with a mechanical background, such as those who have worked on ships (cargo or navy), in mechanical engineering, or as automotive or heavy diesel mechanics. In this position, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and servicing complex mechanical and hydraulic equipment.

If you have a strong aptitude for mechanical systems and a proven ability to take apart, repair, and reassemble equipment to a high standard, this is the role for you.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Tool Repairs & Servicing: Disassemble, diagnose, repair, and reassemble a wide range of hydraulic tools and equipment to manufacturer specifications.
  • Workflow Coordination: Ensure jobs are booked in, communicated across departments, and processed efficiently to meet turnaround targets.
  • Customer Service: Maintain excellent communication with internal and external customers, providing updates on job progress and expected delivery times.
  • Inventory & Stock Management: Ensure spare parts are accurately tracked and stock levels are maintained.
  • Workshop Maintenance: Keep the service bay clean and organized, ensuring tools and equipment are in good working condition.
  • Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety procedures and ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at all times.


What We're Looking For:

  • Mechanical Expertise: Experience in mechanical engineering, automotive service, heavy diesel mechanics, or naval engineering. Experience working on ships (e.g., cargo or navy) is highly advantageous.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities to repair complex mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Trade Qualification: A trade qualification in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy when assessing, repairing, and reassembling equipment.
  • Customer-Focused: Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • IT Competency: Proficiency in basic IT systems such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to team goals.
