He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We have a new and exciting position that has been created to actively lead and deliver projects for our pools and leisure department.

Our pool and leisure centres play a key role in getting 'More Aucklanders, More Active, More Often'. In this project manager role, you’ll be at the forefront of driving meaningful change, delivering projects on time and within budget while respecting the mana of all kaimahi and stakeholders involved in our pools and leisure centres.

Your responsibilities:

  • Use specialist subject matter expertise in project management, workforce management and change management to scope and deliver key initiatives or projects
  • Carry out key project management responsibilities and actively manage critical risks, issues, and interdependencies
  • Develop a resource plan for projects and initiatives on the go to support the department to deliver within its means

You are a skilled and experienced project manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a proven ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget. Your strong organizational and time management skills enable you to juggle multiple priorities while keeping everything on track.

Key skills and attributes:

  • Expertise in developing and executing project plans to achieve objectives within deadlines and budgets.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and change management practices.
  • bring an inclusive and adaptable approach to your work, valuing diverse perspectives and fostering collaboration
  • Familiarity with te reo Māori and tikanga, and a willingness to incorporate these into your work.


To excel in this role, you’ll ideally have either:

  • At least five years of demonstrable experience in managing projects of similar scale and complexity, or
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or
  • you will also have a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
