Job Description

Ventia are seeking a multi-skilled and hardworking individual to join their Emergency Response crew based at the Transmission Gully in Wellington.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Network Steward, you will play a crucial role in maintaining roadway safety and efficiency by responding to various incidents including breakdowns, fallen debris, stalled vehicle, and sometimes even serious crash or incident.

Some key responsibilities include

  • Provide routine maintenance of all Transmission Gully assets, including, minor pavement repairs, barrier repairs, fencing repairs, public walkway and access track maintenance, graffiti removal, vegetation control, drainage system maintenance, litter and debris clearing, asset condition inspections and other general planned or unplanned asset maintenance as required.
  • Provide Level 3 Traffic Management, including static, semi-static and mobile lane closures
  • Operate Traffic Management Plant including the incident response vehicle, traffic management signs truck and AWVMS
  • Provide incident response (both planned and unplanned) to ensure the safe operation of Transmission Gully.


ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will need to have relevant experience in traffic management or emergency response. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to be able to deal with the public and other stakeholders on a daily basis. Your ability to remain calm and compose in high pressured situations is critical in ensuring that you are able to make decisions that guarantee a safe and efficient operations.

Other skills, qualifications, and experience required

  • Have a minimum Class 2 NZ Driver's Licence
  • STMS qualification preferred
  • Be healthy and physically fit
  • Genuinely care about your safety, along with the safety and care of people you meet each day
  • Have a great attitude and must be a good team player
  • Understanding of working on shifts/rostering – our team works on a 4 on and 4 off roster totaling to 48 hours a week or per rotation. There are two blocks of day shift (6am to 6.30 pm) and two block of night shift (6pm to 6.30am).
