Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager Quantitative Risk Management, The Manager Risk Specialist will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise to Westpac New Zealand on Credit Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) and Credit Risk Provisioning (ECL). You will be key to ensuring that Westpac is aware of its regulatory obligations and delivers on these to market leading standards.

Key responsibilities in your new role include:

  • Act in a subject matter expert capacity in the areas of credit risk regulatory capital, ECL, stress testing and modelling, and how these subjects impact on key aspects of the bank's operations.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements are met in relation to the calculation of credit risk RWA.
  • Ensure that accounting and modelling requirements are met within ECL/IFRS9.
  • Provide coaching to build the technical, professional capabilities and core understanding of these frameworks to market-leading standard.
  • Build and maintain relationships with WBC group risk and analytics teams, external auditors, WNZL finance, and key regulatory bodies.

  • Expertise in Basel, BPR, APS, IFRS standards
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with, consult and advise senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build, and maintain effective working relationships across the business
