Job Description
The Collaborative Corridor Agreement (CCA) is a partnership between Hamilton City Council and Downer, responsible for the planning and delivery of the majority of transportation-related physical works activities in Hamilton (maintenance and renewal). The CCA has a high-performance approach, thrives on continual improvement and has a real willingness to try new things and challenge status quo.
We are looking for a dynamic Design and Renewals Manager to lead with impact within the CAA. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive collaboration and performance across a high-performing team, ensuring the delivery of key outcomes that meet and exceed the expectations of our parent organisations.
Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
As the Design and Renewals Manager, you’ll be part of the Contract Management Team and provide strategic leadership to the Design and Renewals team. You’ll oversee the full lifecycle of renewal activities within the CCA, including all Capital Projects delivered through the contract.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with the Contract Management Team to ensure programmes are delivered in line with performance objectives and KPIs.
- Lead the development of renewal designs and options reports that balance community needs, asset outcomes, and value for money—incorporating innovative treatments where appropriate.
- Oversee the delivery of renewals and capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
- Manage all aspects of project delivery, including programming, material supply, plant coordination, quality assurance, and post-construction reporting.
- Oversight of physical works to ensure performance targets are met and resources are used effectively to deliver a responsive, customer-focused renewals delivery team.
- Work closely with the Asset Management Team and City Transportation Unit to align work programmes, ensuring renewal projects deliver their intended outcomes.

You’ll also bring with you:
- Knowledge of local & regional authority regulations & requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of the activities which make up the renewal process, including asset management, design, customer engagement, civil/road construction, and/or surfacing.
- A proven track record in identifying, researching, developing and reporting on innovative solutions.
- The ability to develop a culture that supports Zero Harm practices, encouraging and rewarding excellence.
- Proven project management experience, and clear understanding of industry best practice
- Strong relationship building skills
