Mō te tūnga | About the role
These roles will include providing our Social Workers with support for home visits, administration tasks and escorting services. In this role, you will be working under the supervision of a team of social workers and supervisors and day to day responsibilities will include:
- Providing support across a site on an on-demand basis based on the day-to-day operating needs of the Youth Justice team.
- Assisting social workers to enter case notes and other information into CYRAS and other information systems.
- Safely transporting children and young people from one location to another such as appointments, school, attending Youth Court and sports as required under a social worker's direction and supervision.
- Supporting young people to complete aspects of their Family Group conference plans as required under a social worker's direction and supervision. This may also include working with whānau to be able to support their rangatahi achieve success.
- Making necessary administrative arrangements for children in placement and/or programme transition under supervision of a social worker.
- Supporting the transport of young people to bail homes as directed by the Court.
- Some weekends and afterhours may be required.
- Fostering cooperative working relations with internal colleagues and external partners and stakeholders.

We're looking for applicants with some of the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Qualifications:
- An interest in or studying towards relevant tertiary qualifications.
- A clean, current full driver's licence is essential and a willingness to drive the Ministry's vehicles.
Experience:
- Working in the community assisting or supporting people in need
- Experience in dealing with emotional situations and being empathic to people's challenges and stresses
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work in collaborative peer and other stakeholder relationships
Skills:
- Intermediate level of competence across the Microsoft Suite
- Well- developed written and verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal skills
- Able to maintain demeanour in emotionally complex situations
- A calm professional demeanour, with the ability to maintain performance under stress
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner
