About the role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
The Kakariki Kai Chef reports to the Head of House and is responsible for future planning menus and kai that is ordered by our staff at Kakariki House in advance. One of our most attractive staff benefits is kai, where the staff look forward to affordable healthy, wholesome and delicious meals, prepared by you on site, using seasonal fresh produce and vegetables.
The Kakariki Kai Chef will also be responsible for:
- Planning, providing and serving lunches for a set three days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays) for employees who work from Kākāriki House in a timely manner.
- Creating a varied, seasonal menu in advance each week for staff to book, with allowance for special dietary requirements.
- Purchasing and/or ordering of necessary ingredients within budget from approved suppliers.
- Ensuring all lunches provided are nutritious, healthy and creative and reflect the seasonal produce available.
- Administer effective and sustainable purchasing procedures using approved technologies within the Wise Group.
- Communicating with staff effectively regarding their dietary requirements.
- This is a part-time role, working Monday to Thursday 32 hours per week. There is the potential for this role to be 40 hours per week with Fridays working supporting with facilities/admin support.
This role is fixed term with an end date of 27 February 2026.
Skills & Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako
We’re looking for a passionate healthy chef with previous experience in a similar role. The successful candidate will also have:
- An understanding of food handling and health practices
- A high level of innovation and ability to problem solve
- Exceptional planning and time management skills
- Commitment to a healthy lifestyle and providing support and advice to others in this area
- Qualification in relevant field, food handling, cooking
- A clean, full driver’s license
