Job Description

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimising operational efficiency, ensuring the smooth execution of all programmes and maximising impact across Aotearoa. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will drive operational excellence, manage teams effectively, and champion a culture of kindness, collaboration and innovation.

What you'll do:

As the Head of Operations, your role will be integral in overseeing day-to-day delivery of nationwide programmes, community hub and warehouse. You will manage six direct reports including the programmes team, regional coordinators, volunteer manager, and warehouse staff. Your strategic thinking will be crucial in driving social impact while maintaining organisational integrity and transparency.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance operational performance
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement efficient processes across various departments
  • Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and financial management of all nationwide programmes
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to the operations team
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential threats
  • Ensure adherence to relevant legal and regulatory requirements.


What you bring:

As the Head of Operations, you bring a wealth of experience in senior management roles preferably within the charity or social service sector. Your exceptional leadership skills coupled with your strategic thinking will enable you to drive social impact while managing teams effectively. Your strong understanding of New Zealand charity operations will ensure compliance with financial regulations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Proven track record of operational experience in senior management roles within the charity or social service sector
  • Strong understanding of New Zealand charity operations, obligations, financial budget management, and compliance requirements
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire both small and large teams
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for driving social impact
  • Proficiency in relevant software and technology platforms.
