THE PEOPLE & CAPABILITY (P&C) TEAM

The P&C team at Ventia in New Zealand are a small, close-knit, and supportive group. The P&C Services team at VENTIA supports every division of our business throughout the country. VENTIA is a very diverse company, both in terms of the make-up of our teams and the types of work that we do. We work closely with our colleagues in Australia which gives our roles in P&C an international dimension, and because of the variety and complexity of the industries we work in, there is a consistent flow of new and varied challenges. As a member of the P&C Services team you will also benefit from working with an experienced and supportive group of senior mentors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you’ll provide first-level HR and employee relations support, manage cases, and assist the wider People & Capability team in building employee relations knowledge within the Management team. You’ll have the flexibility to work from home or at the Ventia Freeman’s Bay office, which is conveniently located near public transport and local shops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on HR/ER issues and company policies, escalating when necessary
  • Report on key trends across regions and sectors
  • Support employee lifecycle queries, policy implementation, and ER matters
  • Contribute to ER policy reviews and assist with HR-related projects
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and provide feedback for process development
  • Ensure compliance with Risk Management, Quality, and Health & Safety systems


ABOUT YOU

You will be supporting a small/medium organisation at an HR advisory level. In previous HR roles you will have built your knowledge of NZ employment legislation and also gained experience in advising managers in relation to Company policies and procedures, as well as employment relations queries, including performance management and supporting workplace investigations. You will need excellent interpersonal skills to build good working relationships and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. You will be resilient, energetic and enjoy working in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. You will be interested in growing your career and looking to step into a larger role in the future.

Key Experiences & Skills:

  • Tertiary qualification in HR or related field
  • Experience in HR advisory and managing ER/IR issues
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation and industrial instruments
  • Skilled in consultative processes at a professional level
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work adaptively in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
