Job Description

We are looking for three Senior Engagement Advisors to join our dynamic Engagement team. The three positions will have slightly different focuses:

Two Senior City Revitalisation Engagement roles (one fixed term until June 2027, and one permanent). These roles are part of the new City Revitalisation Engagement team. This team supports the most exciting and complex projects in Wellington City. This is an opportunity to be part of multi-disciplinary teams working to enhance the city and transform the transport system, ensuring that the community's views are heard and considered at every step of the way. To be successful in this role, you'll be an effective relationship builder and empathetic to the impacts of change in a community. You will be confident leading engagement, working with technical teams, and providing strategic engagement advice. Some key activities this role will be responsible for include:

  • Strategic engagement design, advice, and planning for projects— ensuring that processes are robust and allow for genuine engagement.
  • Building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships throughout the life of a project.
  • Timely and effective written and face-to-face communication with community members. You'll need to have the ability to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly, ensuring that it is suitable for diverse audiences.
  • Support decision makers by providing a wide range of views from the community.



One Senior Diversity and Engagement Advisor This permanent position will sit within our new Community Engagement team, supporting the team to engage with diverse community voices and integrate them into strategic decision-making. The Community Engagement team promotes best engagement practices, ensuring that residents' views are considered in Council decision-making processes. To be successful in this role, you'll have a genuine passion for relationship building, creating safe spaces for meaningful dialogue, and making Council processes easier for diverse communities to engage with. Some key activities this role will be responsible for include:

  • Supporting Council's Advisory Groups Advisory Groups - Meetings - Wellington City Council, including implementing a new model for the groups.
  • Enhancing the team's ability to engage with diverse communities.
  • Offering strategic and tactical engagement advice and support for key initiatives.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • As an experienced Engagement professional, you will lead community engagement and consultation for diverse audiences and develop engagement plans and strategies. These roles are ideal if you have experience in strategic engagement planning and delivery at a Senior Advisor level, particularly with complex projects in a political setting.
