Mō te tūranga | About the Role
The purpose of the Senior Cyber Security Engineer - PAM (Privileged Access Management) role is to work alongside Westpac’s Cyber Security Identity & Access Management Team to complete assessments, identify network vulnerabilities, maintain and support existing privileged access management platform, configure and enhance its existing security features.

Senior Engineers lead the team in performing incident response, documentation and resolution of technical faults related to our Privilege Access Management Platform.

Senior Cyber Security Engineers working within the Cyber Security – Privileged Access Management Squad will be proficient in:

  • Understanding complex technical issues and managing them within a fast-paced business environment.
  • In Depth understanding and experience maintaining PAM software and hardware.
  • Lead the identification of current and emerging technology issues including security trends, vulnerabilities, and threats.
  • Pushing the status quo of our PAM platform to ensure it’s continuous uplift.
  • Conducting proactive research to analyse security weaknesses and recommend appropriate strategies.
  • Liaising with vendors to implement security solutions.


Ōu Pūkenga | About You

  • Experience with least privilege, zero trust, and just-in-time (JIT) access.
  • In depth knowledge of Identity Management (Lifecycle, Governance, Access Management, Privileged Access).
  • In depth understanding and experience working with premise & Cloud based Identity Access.
  • Thorough understanding of the Identity & Access Management Market.
  • Forward thinking & Innovative, Challenge the status quo.
  • Understanding of API integration, Software Development best practice and SCIM Design.
  • Working knowledge of standards, frameworks, models, patterns. Formats and protocols (NIST / ISO etc).
  • Understanding of Automation within the IAM space and architecture patterns / runway artefacts.
  • Security related certifications (e.g. CISSP, network security certs).
  • Experience zoperating in an enterprise environment following strict change control procedures, eg Service Now.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of change, incident, and problem management (ITIL.)
  • Previous exposure to Linux and/or Windows Operating Systems, coding languages, and/or Networks.
  • Comfortable working with 3rd parties to solve complex multi-stakeholder issues.
  • Demonstrable knowledge, understanding and application of information security best practice standards and guidelines (e.g. ISO 27001).
  • Experience supporting technical infrastructure in a regulated industry i.e. Financial Institutions, Government Agencies etc.
