Job Description

Our client is seeking a Data Engineer for 12 months to support their rapidly expanding consultancy capability. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional solutions and facilitating transformative change within some of New Zealand's leading organisations.

What you'll do:

As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enabling the business to leverage data for daily decision-making processes. You will be responsible for building resilient, secure high-performance infrastructure required for optimal ETL/ELT processes from a wide variety of data sources using cutting-edge technologies. Your expertise will be instrumental in acquiring, ingesting, and processing complex datasets from multiple sources into Big Data platforms. You will also contribute significantly towards building analytics tools that utilise this data to provide actionable insights into planning system performance.

  • Enable the business to use data for day-to-day decisions using key technologies such as Snowflake and DBT.
  • Build resilient, secure high-performance infrastructure for optimal ETL/ELT processes from various data sources.
  • Acquire, ingest, and process complex data sets from multiple sources into Snowflake.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, redesign infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Contribute to building analytics tools that utilize the data to provide actionable insights into planning system performance.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand, assess and model their data landscape, obtain data extracts and define secure data exchange approaches.
  • Maintain Information Security standards on each client engagement.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to map data fields to hypotheses and curate, wrangle, and prepare data for use in advanced analytical models.
  • Build modular pipelines to construct features and modelling tables.


What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Data Engineer position must bring significant Telco experience. Proficiency in working with Snowflake & DBT is essential. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who can articulate ideas clearly and has strong presentation skills. The ability to tell a compelling story and get buy-in from stakeholders is crucial in this role.
