He angitūtanga: The opportunity
As part of the Parks & Community Facilities Department, you’ll be working with a diverse team of subject matter experts who are passionate about delivering tangible results for the local community and future generations. As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes. 
 
Reporting into the Planning & Reporting Manager, as part of your role you’ll:  

  • Confidently engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand business data and requirements, and implement tools and/or processes to enable data capture where needed to enable future insights and analysis
  • Bring experience working with complex datasets from various sources – this is essential, including extraction and transformation, and automating this where applicable
  • Contribute to design, develop, validate and document accurate and reliable datasets, and user-friendly, fit-for-purpose self-serve business intelligence reports that are meaningful to their target audience
  • This will require strong experience in Power BI, including creation of relational data models, reports and dashboards. Strong Excel and other Microsoft Office applications assumed, and experience in Power Automate a bonus. 


Your scope will also include identifying areas for improvement in process or technology, as well as actions and opportunities, using data-driven recommendations, and effectively communicating this to the business.  

He kōrero mōu: About you
As an experienced analyst with proven ability in utilising data and knowledge to generate insights, you’ll have excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and the ability to quickly analyse and report on large volumes of data. 

With a curiosity for learning and delivering on new ideas or ways of working you will have experience in data analytics and reporting including the use of Power BI, excel, PowerPoint, programming skills, data ingestion, transformation and automation technology stack. You will back these skills up with the influencing and persuasion skills necessary to achieve results with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

You’ll be progressive and experienced in establishing reporting from inception through to publication, interpreting patterns and/or useful trends in complex data sets that drive business and service performance by empowering our decision-makers with quality advice, results, trends and insights with the ability to streamline and simplify the information delivery.
