Job Description

Position Overview
Massey University's Student Health and Counselling Services are seeking a dynamic Receptionist to provide exceptional customer service and comprehensive administrative support. You will be the first point of contact for students, patients, and staff, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience for all. The role supports the efficient functioning of both the Health and Counselling services and is based on our Pukeahu Wellington Campus.

This is a part time position of 22.5 hours, 3 days a week working Monday, Thursday and Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly and efficient reception services, including managing appointments for doctors, nurses, and counsellors.
  • Handle enquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Process patient enrolments, maintain accurate records, and manage patient correspondence.
  • Support finance-related tasks, including payment processing and ACC claims.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, and managing office supplies.


Key Relationships:
Internal: Health and Counselling staff, Student Life, and other university departments.
External: Te Whatu Ora, Tū Ora (PHO), ACC, and GP providers.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification is desirable.
  • High level of computer literacy is essential, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in a GP, Primary Health Organisation (PHO), or ACC environment is desirable.
  • Previous experience in reception or customer service roles is essential.
  • Knowledge of MedTech or similar electronic health record systems is an advantage.


The salary band for this role is $48,036 to $63,675 based on skills and experience.
