Our client is a small but mighty not-for-profit organisation working tirelessly both in public and in private to improve the lives of animals across Aotearoa.

As an organisation they’ve achieved some amazing recent wins but have much more to do. They’re focused on numerous strategic and tactical objectives including raising awareness of their cause and exposing cruelty, influencing policy and legislation, and successful administration of programmes and projects.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Communications & Media Advisor will have responsibility for:

  • Media and PR efforts, including the writing and distribution of compelling releases and statements, and being the Media’s first point of contact
  • Strategic communications planning and delivery for both internal and external audiences
  • Identification and development of external engagement opportunities
  • Supporting the Chief Executive and other organisational leaders in interactions with policy and lawmakers, and other influential parties
  • Project-related communications support


Preference will be given to candidates from a journalism background who can bring a demonstrable understanding of both the media and political landscape.
