About the opportunity | Te whiwhinga mahi

We are looking for a dynamic Engineering Project Manager to join our team! If you are passionate about driving engineering excellence and delivering impactful projects, we want to hear from you!
You will cover a range of engineering projects (Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical), leading initiatives that will significantly improve the sustainability, safety, quality, and reliability of assets within our operations. Your projects will be highly visible to senior leaders and make a real difference to the future performance and success of Fonterra.

Reporting to the Regional Projects Manager, this role will be predominantly based at our Whareroa site and will service all our sites across the Lower North Island (Whareroa, Collingwood St, Kapuni, Pahiatua, Longburn, and MFU). You’ll be working alongside an established team of Engineering Project Managers. You will be responsible for a portfolio of mid-sized projects, typically 100k to $15M, taking the project through all stages of project delivery including conception, definition/scoping, concept design through to full detailed design, contracting, implementation, commissioning and handover including post-completion support. You will own and drive delivery of projects, building business cases from the ground up, ensuring process, budget and timelines are clear, implementing each step to ensure business benefits are delivered, clearly communicating updates across our key stakeholders.

About you | Mōu

We are looking for a rounded individual that can handle a little ambiguity at the start of a project and turn this into a well-defined scope of work clear to all, leveraging a strong team approach. To be successful in this role you will bring a project management background within a fast-paced and high-quality engineering environment. You’ll develop an array of knowledge across a range of either consumer food service or milk processes, be familiar with project management tools and techniques, as well as having the ability to deliver projects end-to-end.

You’ll have a proven ability to cope with an ever changing and busy workload effectively, as well as having excellent prioritisation and decision-making skills. You’ll be reliable, approachable, and be able to identify, and provide solutions to the wider business to keep jobs moving forward.

Critical skills and experience required:

  • Dairy Process, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Degree or equivalent experience
  • Project management experience delivering industrial projects with a spend of +$1M/project
  • Ability to prioritise your work to resource, lead and manage several projects at any given time
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to fully scope and cost projects
  • Ability to lead consultants and contractors, including design, installation, commissioning and handover activities
  • The ability to manage change and see tasks through to completion
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent collaboration, influencing and problem-solving skills.
