About Ngā Tamariki Pūāwai o Tāmaki - AKA
Since 1908, AKA has been a cornerstone of Early Childhood Education in Aotearoa. With 107 kindergartens, four KiNZ centresand a dedicated support services, we provide safe, enriching, and multicultural environments where tamariki thrive.
Guided by Te Whāriki, we empower tamariki to develop as confident, competent learners while working in partnership with their whānau. Our Auckland-wide network of kindergartens ensures tamariki receive the best start for school and beyond, building the foundation for a lifetime of learning.
About Onehunga Kindergarten
Onehunga Kindergarten is known for its spacious outdoor playground, perfect for encouraging tamariki to explore, create, and imagine. Our team values whānau involvement, working closely with families to achieve the best learning outcomes for every child.
The team includes a Head Kaiako, three qualified and kaiako, and support staff who are dedicated to fostering a tamariki-centered, play-based learning programme informed by Te Whāriki. We are committed to nurturing tamariki sense of belonging within their hapori of Onehunga and Te Papapa.
The Role
We're seeking a registered and certificated ECE Kaiako to join our team in a permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week). This is your chance to:

- Deliver high-quality, inclusive education to tamariki and their whānau.
- Embrace and lead bicultural practices aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

- Embody a play-based learning philosophy and view tamariki as capable, competent individuals.
- Build strong, meaningful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and the hapori.
- Be confident in ICT use to enhance teaching and learning.
- Demonstrate strong planning, assessment, and documentation skills.
- Incorporate sustainability and a love for nature into teaching practices.
- Value diversity and foster inclusiveness in all aspects of teaching and learning.
- Enjoy hands-on learning and nurturing curiosity through play.
- Holds a current first aide certificate.
