The Company

Is an innovative, multi-disciplinary, end to end consultancy with offices across NZ provides expertise across land development, urban design, structural and geotechnical engineering.

Known for their high technical level, expertise and excellent team culture who due to ongoing project demand have an opening for a Land Development Project Lead to join their Nelson team.

The Role

  • Manage all phases of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards while effectively communicating with clients, councils, and internal teams.
  • Be responsible for overseeing design and consenting phases, preparing tender documentation, and ensuring all aspects of the project meet quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor junior staff,
  • Apply technical expertise in areas such as surveying, earthworks, roading, and general civil design
  • Engage in business development to build and nurture client relationships.


About You

  • Experienced Project Manager with a strong background in land development and civil engineering or surveying to lead diverse projects from start to finish.
  • A minimum of 5 plus years of relevant engineering/surveying and project management experience.
  • Good Cadastral skillset and an interest in providing mentoring to junior staff
  • Great communication skills for interactions with clients, Councils and other staff and a positive attitude
  • Experience with 12d would be an advantage
  • Being a team player and have a passion for engineering/surveying
  • Enthusiasm for developing and nurturing your own client base.
  • Demonstrated competency and experience as a lead civil engineering designer.
  • Proven competencies in 3 waters, earthworks, roading, pavements, and general civil design aspects.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant industry standards, including NZS3910, NZS4404, TA design codes of practice, and NZBC.
  • The ability to manage concurrent projects and handle responsibility.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • High motivation, attention to detail, and an enthusiastic approach to your work.
