Join our Actuarial Services team in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland or Pōneke / Wellington, as a trusted business advisor working with iconic New Zealand and overseas clients. You'll play a crucial role in helping insurers, crown enterprises, superannuation schemes, banks, and other corporate and public sector clients navigate financial uncertainties. Our team blends consulting expertise with audit support, building long-lasting client relationships and delivering impactful insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage directly with clients in the private (primarily financial services) and public sectors, tailoring solutions to meet their unique needs and fostering strong partnerships.
  • Lead and manage complex actuarial-related projects, ensuring quality outcomes and innovative strategies that drive client success.
  • Mentor and coach analysts, nurturing their professional development and helping them reach their potential within our vibrant consulting team.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of experts across fields such as maths, statistics, computer science, and economics to deliver comprehensive and forward-thinking solutions.
  • Contribute to the team's future direction through business development, exploring areas of passion to advance your career while expanding our practice.
  • Leverage PwC’s global network for insights into international best practices, providing clients with a broad perspective that enhances local engagements.


Ngā pūkenga kei a koe / Skills and experience:

  • We are seeking talented individuals ranging from Analyst to Director level to join our Actuarial Services team. Ideal candidates will possess the following:
  • Professional Experience: Experience in actuarial roles, particularly in life insurance with a focus on valuation or reserving; banking experience can be advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency: Exceptional quantitative analysis and technical skills with expertise in Excel, Python, and R; knowledge of Prophet is a plus.
  • Communication and Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with the confidence to engage at senior management levels and build lasting relationships.
  • Problem-solving and Motivation: A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, high energy and motivation, and a passion for delivering excellent client outcomes.
  • Professional Development: Fellowship of a recognised actuarial body or progressing towards it, with substantial experience in life insurance, valuation or reserving; banking experience is advantageous.
  • Team Leadership and Growth: Interest in mentoring junior staff and contributing to a collaborative team culture, with an eagerness to explore wider actuarial fields such as banking, health, and analytics.
