Job Description

About the Role:

Our centre is a vibrant, family-focused early learning centre that fosters a strong sense of belonging for children, whānau, and our teaching team. Located in a growing community, our purpose-built centre features spacious, well-resourced indoor and outdoor environments designed to inspire curiosity, exploration, and a love for learning.

We embrace Te Whāriki and incorporate Te Ao Māori values, ensuring tamariki develop confidence, resilience, and essential life skills. Our dedicated and collaborative team provides high-quality education and care, creating a nurturing space where children feel valued and supported. We also prioritise strong partnerships with parents and whānau, making each child’s learning journey meaningful and enriched with their unique culture and identity.

We are looking for an experienced, fully registered Head Teacher with proven leadership and mentoring experience, ideally with aspirations to grow into a 2IC role. The right candidate will have a strong knowledge of play-based curriculum, Te Whāriki, and compliance regulations, as well as experience leading internal evaluations, continuous reviews, assessment, and planning.

If you're a passionate leader committed to excellence in ECE, we’d love to hear from you!

This is a full-time (40-hour) position with rotational shifts between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team to provide high-quality care and education for toddlers.
  • Create a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate learning programmes that foster children's development.
  • Build strong relationships with children, parents, and whānau.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines are met.
  • Support ongoing professional development and team collaboration.

What We’re Looking For:

  • ECE teaching qualification (BEd/Dip Level 7) and current certification.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience leading a team.
  • A deep understanding of programme planning, pedagogy, and curriculum.
  • Knowledge of Te Whāriki and ECE regulations.
  • Passion for early childhood education and a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
