Dinosaur Experience Host and Retail Assistant
Auckland Zoo is creating a Dinosaur Experience for visitors this winter, and we’re looking for six enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our team!
This role is all about bringing dinosaurs to life for our visitors while delivering an exceptional customer experience and selling retail products in our Dino-store. If you have a love for retail, talking about dinosaurs, and creating magical moments, this is the job for you!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Engaging with visitors to share fun and interesting facts about dinosaurs, creating a memorable and interactive experience.
- Assisting with public programs and tours, adapting to different roles as required.
- Providing outstanding customer service in the Dinosaur retail shop, helping visitors find unique dino-themed merchandise.
- Managing stock levels and ensuring the retail space is clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Using basic Te Reo to welcome and interact with visitors.
Shifts:
- 2 people 9.30-4.30/5.30pm Sun, Mon, Tues
- 2 people 9.30 – 4.30/5.30pm Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat
- 1 person Sat 10.30-2.30pm
- 1 person Sun 10.30-2.30pm

What We’re Looking For:
- Retail or customer service experience – previous work in a store, hospitality, or visitor engagement role is a plus!
- A passion for dinosaurs! Whether you’ve studied palaeontology or just love dino facts, your enthusiasm will shine.
- An engaging, confident and friendly personality – you love interacting with people of all ages.
- Physical stamina – you’ll be on your feet for long periods and occasionally help set up exhibits.
- The ability to handle challenges professionally, including customer inquiries or safety concerns.
- A team player who can adapt and help where needed.
- Tech-savvy – comfortable using online systems and assisting visitors with tech-based experiences.
