Relationship Manager - Business Banking

  • Full time, Permanent position
  • Supporting our Christchurch customers


Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting to the Area Manager, you will manage a portfolio of Business Banking customers, providing expert lending advice and financial solutions. The portfolio of clients from a range of industries such as Hospitality, Tourism, and Retail Trade, Manufacturing and Wholesale Trade, Property Finance, Construction Transport and Forestry, Professional Services and Heath, Education, Local Government, Utilities and Infrastructure.

You will continuously build and maintain strong relationships with your clients and intermediaries (such as Brokers and Accountants) by regularly meeting with them to build your knowledge and understanding of their business and identify lending opportunities that align with their business goals. You will also be responsible for ensuring you operate in accordance with compliance, AML and CCCFA regulations. You will also work with a team of knowledgeable Analysts and Relationship Consultants who will provide operational support.

There are four key pillars of responsibility in this role that include:

  • Managing and developing your portfolio, ensuring customers are valued through exceptional and seamless service
  • Operational excellence, analysis, and research of the industries you support
  • Identifying and developing opportunities for new business
  • Lead through influence, or be the leader in industry specialisation

This role will see you be accountable for managing and growing an exciting portfolio of customers so strong customer centric and relationship skills will be critical to your success. In addition, you will also have:

  • A strong understanding of Business Banking segments
  • Current or recent lending experience particularly dealing with Business or Corporate clients
  • Established networks and links within your industry
  • Sound knowledge of product and pricing, compliance, and credit risk processes
  • Ability to build rapport and have strong relationship management and stakeholder management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and networking skills
  • Highly developed business insight and acumen, effectively acting on and communicating your knowledge.
