Manawatu and TRC Toyota Group are establishing this new position and you could be the one we need!

If you are a skilled handy-person, talented on the tools and paintbrush, take a look at what this role involves below. We need a great, positive person for whom no job is ever a problem. We have 5 stores, stretching from Palmerston North to Feilding, Whanganui, Levin and Masterton. Travel is part of the role.

The successful candidate will ensure that all our facilities are well-maintained, clean, safe, and in a good state of repair. This hands-on role requires a blend of technical skills, organisational abilities, initiative and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance:

  • Perform internal and external maintenance and repairs including both internal and external paint prep and re-do, as required (a few painting projects are currently waiting!).
  • Repair minor plumbing/electrical issues, such as fixing washers, leaking taps, bulb replacement, drain clearing...
  • Ensure general building cleanliness and presentation meet company and Toyota New Zealand standards.


Grounds Maintenance:

  • Maintain basic yard and carpark cleanliness, including regular weeding/spraying and rubbish removal.
  • Ensure painted parking and directional lines are clear and easy to see
  • Address moss and lichen growth on external surfaces as needed.
  • Coordinate any landscaping tasks to keep exterior areas well-groomed.


Signage and High-Access Work:

  • Clean and maintain all store signage, including work at heights when necessary.
  • Ensure that all high-access tasks comply with safety regulations and standards.


Preventive Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all locations.
  • Identify and address general repair needs promptly. Some tasks may at times require weekend work to avoid disruptions, a day/days off the following week will be provided.


Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and company policies.
  • Work in line with our environmental management practices and procedures


Coordination and Reporting:

  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialised repairs or maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and provide regular reports to management.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of general repair work.
  • Comfortable working at heights and using appropriate safety equipment.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple locations effectively – (some out-of-town stay may be required for larger projects).
  • Valid and clean driver's license.
  • Certification in working at heights would be an advantage - or willingness to obtain it.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
