Who we are

Ngā Tamariki Puāwai ō Tāmaki - Auckland Kindergarten Association is looking for an experienced unqualified reliever to work across our four KiNZ Centres, with the majority of the time spent at our Mission Heights and Otara Centres.

The permanent Mobile Reliever position is part of a programme which begun in August 2022, to provide 'on the day' urgent relief assistance to our teaching teams. This position is a great opportunity for an experienced unqualified teaching assistant who is passionate about working with our tamariki and kaiako, working across multiple sites, with the added bonus of guaranteed hours.

The Mobile Reliever will experience and learn the different and innovative uniqueness of our Centres and use this as an opportunity to learn along the way. They will support the Centres when an urgent relieving teaching assistant is required and gain a sense of belonging by having a home base (Wā Kāinga) Centre that they will default to if not required anywhere else, allowing the opportunity to build connections and feel like you are a part of a team.

Why relieve as a Mobile Reliever with KiNZ?

  • Working day of 7.25 hours and work over the term breaks to provide more financial security.
  • The opportunity to work in a variety of dynamic environments alongside inspiring, passionate and supportive team members.
  • Allocated non-contact time to contribute to the learning outcomes of tamariki and for you own growth and engagement in professional learning.
  • Our relievers feel a strong sense of connection and commitment to the values and purpose of the AKA and the Mobile Reliever programme plays a pivotal role in supporting this.
  • If you are looking for career development the Mobile Reliever role can open up some great opportunities. We have wonderful success stories of this within the Mobile Reliever team.
  • One on one guidance and support will be offered to the Mobile Reliever from their Wā Kāinga Centre team and the Reliever Co-ordinator.

What our Mobile Relievers have to say:

"I love my job as a Mobile Reliever. It is an amazing opportunity to work with so many of the tamariki of Tāmaki Makaurau…. You will always be surrounded by passionate Kaiako and a supportive team that appreciate you being there." Cheryl, KiNZ Mobile Reliever

"Mobile relieving has given me a consistent, secure number of days I needed to work… I get to work in a variety of different kindergartens which is like PD every day!" Ange, AKA Mobile Reliever

To be successful in this role there are a few things we require from you:

  • Be an experienced teaching assistant. Teachers in training may be considered for the role.
  • Available five days per week however, this could be negotiable for the right candidate.
  • Be committed to the ongoing success of the Mobile Reliever programme.
  • Be flexible, a confident communicator and be able to use your initiative while working with our busy teams in our different Centre environments.
  • Flexibility in travel is a must as you will be asked to move to different Centres each morning (travel time and mileage reimbursement offered).
  • Access to a reliable means of transport and a mobile phone that you can be contactable on each morning.
  • Reside between Ellerslie and no further south than Papatoetoe where you have easy access to our KiNZ Otara and KiNZ Mission Heights Centre's.

If you can offer all of this and would love to join a professional team in a friendly, supportive workplace that offers the intrinsic reward of working for a well-respected charitable organisation please 'Apply Now'. Please indicate in your application which area of Auckland you live in.

Applications close Friday 24 January 2025 (unless filled prior).

Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand to be considered for this position.
