We’re looking for a Recruitment Officer to manage our end-to-end hiring process and ensure a seamless candidate experience while maintaining compliance with employment laws and privacy regulations.
About the role
The Recruitment Officer is responsible for overseeing the entire recruitment process, from sourcing and attracting candidates to conducting interviews and onboarding new hires. This role also involves working with overseas candidates, requiring a general understanding of immigration rules and a willingness to learn about visa processes (note: immigration adviser-level expertise is not expected). Additionally, a strong knowledge of employment legislation, including the Privacy Act and other relevant regulations, is essential to ensure compliance in all hiring practices. Administrative duties will also be an integral part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Sourcing and Recruitment:
Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates
Use recruitment platforms to source potential candidates (or have a willingness to learn)
Build and maintain a talent pipeline for future hiring needs
Assist with recruitment and hiring processes for overseas candidates
Point of contact for recruitment inquiries.
Screening and Selection:
Review resumes and applications to identify suitable candidates
Conduct phone and in-person interviews to assess candidate qualifications
Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring managers
Administer skills assessments or pre-employment tests as needed
Onboarding and Employee Integration:
Ensure a smooth onboarding process by providing new hires with necessary information and resources
Work with HR and department heads to facilitate training and orientation programs
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure compliance with NZ employment laws, the Privacy Act, and company policies
Maintain accurate records of candidates, interviews, and hiring decisions
Manage and update the applicant tracking system (ATS)
Handle confidential candidate data responsibly, in accordance with privacy regulations
Have a general understanding of immigration processes and work visa requirements (ability to learn and keep up to date with changes)
Collaboration and Communication:
Partner with department managers to understand hiring needs and job requirements
Maintain strong relationships with recruitment agencies and external partners
Provide regular updates on recruitment progress and hiring metrics
Your Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Proven experience in recruitment or talent acquisition
Preferable experience in recruitment within the retail industry
Strong understanding of NZ employment legislation, the Privacy Act, and best hiring practices
Basic knowledge of immigration rules and visa requirements, with a willingness to learn
Experience using recruitment platforms (or a strong desire to learn)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and prioritise key strategic key strategic goals in fast-paced environment
Proficiency in recruitment tools, HR software, and applicant tracking systems (ATS)
