What you'll do
We’re looking for a Produce Specialist to join our team here in Aotearoa reporting to our Head of Product Innovation and Technology. The Produce Specialist will work collaboratively together with internal stakeholders and suppliers, to bring products to market. They are the subject matter expert, with the technical capability to provide the business with sound guidance and help educate and support the wider process technology discipline.
You will be responsible for:
- Product and Packaging knowledge for driving product development successfully - product origin, characteristics, seasonality, variety, shelf life, packaging formats.
- Setting Quality standards through defining clear product attributes, and continually benchmarking and challenging standards to maintain clear differences.
- Adhere to the NPD process for product development, completing all relevant documentation, and ensuring on time delivery of the agreed NPD plan.
- Creation and management of produce specifications and reviewing artwork and labelling checks.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role you will need to have in-depth working knowledge of the produce sector and be able to implement legal and regulatory requirements that enable us to provide compliant products, product claims and accurate labels. You have knowledge of processing/packaging processes and impact on Cost of Goods, coupled with solid organisational and project management skills. You demonstrate commitment for excellence and setting of standards, while having demonstrated experience with diverse stakeholder interaction. A tertiary qualification in a food-related field (minimum 3-year diploma or degree) is required, along with at least 5 years of experience in produce related quality discipline or a relevant discipline within a complex produce environment.
