Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Improvement Consultant to join our Digital Enablement team within IT Services at Massey University. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact as we modernize and innovate our technology landscape to align with the future of higher education.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
As a Business Improvement Consultant, you’ll play a crucial role in helping various University departments adopt new digital capabilities supported by our department. Your expertise will be key in identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve systems, and optimize the use of technology. You’ll work closely with project teams, specialists, and stakeholders across the University to drive business improvement initiatives, ensuring that digital transformation aligns with the University’s strategic goals.

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Investigate business practices, identify areas for improvement, and provide actionable recommendations to optimize processes and systems.
Design and implement change management plans that support the smooth adoption of new digital tools and practices. Work with key stakeholders to ensure successful transitions and minimise disruption.
Build strong relationships with business units, management, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure that solutions align with their goals. Act as a trusted advisor, guiding them through the change process.
Proactively identify business improvement opportunities across the University. Collaborate with the Practice Lead and other specialists to prioritise and deliver consultancy services that create lasting value.
Work closely with IT teams to integrate business improvement initiatives into IT projects, ensuring a cohesive and comprehensive approach to change.

Kei te kimi mātou - Key Skills
Minimum 5 years experience in an IT or IT-related position, with deep background in the investigation, analysis and improvement of business processes and capability.
A tertiary qualification in an IT or Business Management subject, or equivalent extensive industry experience.
Industry recognised certification in Business Analysis, Process Improvement or Consultancy at a senior practitioner or manager level.
Experience in working with stakeholders to investigate and document opportunities for improvement.
Experience in implementing tools and processes to improve capability.
Demonstrable familiarity with current strategic issues facing IT departments (preferably in a university or NZ government context)
Expertise in planning, designing, and implementing change management strategies that support business and technology transformations.
Ability to manage and influence relationships at all levels, ensuring alignment and mutual benefit.
Proven ability to identify and analyze complex business challenges related to technology usage, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.

This full-time position (37.5hrs) has a grade 8 salary range ($94,210 - $126,536) and is based at our Palmerston North campus. Join us and lead a key part of Massey University’s digital transformation.
