We are seeking an experienced Senior Contract Manager – Paving to lead and manage the operations and contract performance of our paving department. Reporting to the Surfacing Manager, Lower South Island, you will ensure the delivery of contract requirements, optimise resource utilisation, and achieve targeted results. This is a pivotal role, driving the profitable and sustainable growth of contracts while aligning with our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct operations to optimise contract performance, ensuring quality and timely delivery
- Implement control frameworks to monitor project budgets to achieve operational efficiencies
- Build and lead high-performing teams, ensuring clear targets, effective coaching, and professional development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Identify opportunities to grow market share and expand business across the Lower South Island
- Lead Zero Harm initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, promoting a culture of responsibility, and managing risks effectively.

We’re seeking a skilled professional with a proven ability to drive operational excellence, foster strong client relationships, and deliver outstanding results. Your expertise in contract management, leadership, and achieving high-performance outcomes will be key to success in this role. We would also value:
- A tertiary qualification in engineering would be desirable
- Ideally you will possess a BE or NZCE qualification equivalent and/or over 5 years project management/engineering experience in asphalt and or sealing operations.
- Ability to drive operational site work to ensure quality is achieved, work completed to schedule and rework is minimized.
- Understanding of financial and accounting processes, to include preparation of progress and claim reports and producing and interpreting monthly financial reports to P&L level.
- Strong leadership capabilities to inspire and empower teams
