We are seeking a qualified and experienced Fitter and Turner with a strong engineering background to join our team in maintaining and enhancing the performance of machinery within a high-output textile manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with engineering problem-solving to ensure continuous, efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose faults and conduct both reactive and preventative maintenance on textile production machinery
Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components with precision and adherence to engineering standards
Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to support process improvement and machine reliability
Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for component fabrication and installation
Operate lathes, mills, grinders, and other equipment to machine precision parts
Inspect completed assemblies and parts to ensure proper fit and alignment using appropriate measuring instruments
Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on technical projects and equipment upgrades
Requirements:
Trade qualification in fitting and turning, with additional experience or training in mechanical engineering
Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments, preferably within the textile sector
Strong technical skills in machine diagnostics, part fabrication, and mechanical assembly
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
Knowledge of textile-specific machinery (e.g. looms, spinning frames) is advantageous
Working Conditions:
Physically active role requiring standing, lifting, and manual handling
Industrial workshop and factory environment with exposure to noise and moving machinery
Strict adherence to safety protocols and use of PPE at all times
