Campus Life is a Service Division that supports an engaging and inclusive campus experience for students at The University of Auckland. Campus Life operates a range of ‘wellbeing services’, such as Accommodation, Counselling and Health Services, that are aimed at removing personal barriers to academic success. It also operates ‘engagement’ services such as support for student organisations, social and sporting events, volunteering and leadership support that are aimed at helping students to maximise the non-classroom dimensions of the university experience.

Commercial Services oversees and operates retail shops, cafes and services for students and staff on campus, including the Campus Store and Campus Card.

Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Campus Card Team Leader plays a critical role in managing and enhancing the Campus Card system - a platform that underpins key services across the University, from meal plans and accommodation to printing and access management.

We are looking for a strategic and proactive leader who can confidently guide this space. You’ll ensure smooth day-to-day operations while also identifying opportunities to improve services and enhance the experience for staff and students.

This role is ideal for someone with strong project management skills who is tech-savvy and has a keen interest in IT systems (no coding required). You'll work closely with the Associate Director of Operations and Commercial Services and the Commercial Services Business Relationship Manager to shape the future of the Campus Card ecosystem, engaging with stakeholders across the University.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), fixed-term role for 12 months.

The salary range for this role is $83,300 - $92,500 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

We’re seeking a strategic thinker with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach. You’ll be confident working with stakeholders at all levels, balancing operational responsibilities and driving long-term improvements. You will have proven leadership in a change environment, with experience managing complex processes in large organisations.

Ngā Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

  • Tertiary qualified in Business, Commerce, Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5-6 years of commercial experience, including leadership in a change environment
  • Expertise in service desk/end user support, customer services, and managing multiple stakeholders
  • Strong technical aptitude with IT systems (no coding required), including Windows applications
  • Experience with system analysis, product modelling, and rules-based system configuration
  • Ability to prioritise, manage competing demands, and drive process improvement
  • Excellent relationship management skills and communication across all levels
