If you’ve got a spark for technology and a passion for keeping things running smoothly, our ITS Technician role in Auckland is calling your name! At Downer, you'll be hands-on with the latest in Intelligent Transport Systems, ensuring our roads are smarter, safer, and more efficient.
As an ITS Technician with Downer, you will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). This includes working on traffic management systems, electronic signage, cameras, PID’s and other advanced technologies that improve road safety, pedestrian safety, passenger information and efficiency.
You will also be:
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with electrical systems and components.
- Compliance: Ensure all installations and repairs comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections and repairs.
- Emergency Response: Provide support during emergencies and assist with the rapid deployment of ITS solutions as required.

- Qualifications: Must be a New Zealand registered Electrician and have a current Electricians practising license with the EWRB. Additional ITS-specific certifications are a plus.
- Proven Experience: Previous experience as an electrician, preferably with a focus on ITS or similar systems is highly desirable.
- Driver’s License: A valid full class 1 driver’s license is required.
- Safety First: Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in electrical work. Commitment to maintaining a zero-harm work environment.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical systems, control systems, and technology integration as well as solid computer skills and exposure to a wide variety of computer application.
- Adaptability & Flexibility: Willingness to work in various conditions and adapt to changing project requirements as there is an occasional requirement to travel and stay away from home.
