About Product Marketing at Shopify:
Product Marketers lead our go-to-market initiatives for innovative new products, driving demand and adoption through product positioning, guiding the launch, and crafting the communication and narrative to turn products into cohesive solutions that are understood by merchants, developers, and partners.

About the role:

The ideal candidate should have experience in marketing a technical product and be good at explaining complicated technical ideas in simple, engaging ways. They should be creative, work well with others, and bring enthusiasm and insight to create effective marketing strategies that produce results. This is a lead-level Individual Contributor (IC) role, and will not include people management responsibilities.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with teams from Product Management, User Experience, Engineering, Marketing, Support, and Creatives to identify target audiences, create important messages, develop product launch strategies, and boost awareness and engagement with developers, partners, and merchants.
  • Drive successful campaigns for new products and features, from go-to-market planning to driving product adoption, working closely with product teams throughout the process.
  • Work with international teams to incorporate country-specific needs and trends into positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Create compelling storytelling content for Merchant and Developer audiences, including case studies, webinars, and blog posts that showcase success stories and product impact.
  • Collaborate with marketing channel owners to implement campaigns that boost engagement within merchant, developer, and partner communities.
  • Conduct audience research to understand needs, motivations, market trends, and competitive offerings, informing segmentation, narrative development, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Conduct research on target audiences, including their needs, motivations, market trends, and competitive offerings, to inform segmentation, narrative development, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Leverage deep understanding of audience needs, platform capabilities, product strategy, and market trends to shape future marketing campaigns and guide product releases.


The team:
The Storefronts team builds products and features that enable merchants, developers, and partners to create buyer-facing experiences, including ecommerce websites and sales channels. We develop tools that are comparable to other no/low code website builders as well as sophisticated headless web frameworks, all optimized for ecommerce. Developers are a key audience for our products.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:

  • Previous experience in a B2B, product-led SaaS organization.
  • Mastery of product marketing fundamentals including positioning, messaging, data analysis, customer research, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Ability to translate complex product strategies into compelling narratives and clear messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of how narratives come to life in different marketing channels, such as web, social, email, and blogs.
  • Track record of building strong partnerships with product, marketing, partnerships, and commercial teams, including senior stakeholder management.
  • Intellectual curiosity and self-starting attitude, with a willingness to ask questions and use answers to bring clarity and direction to the greater team.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and rapid decision-making in dynamic environments.


Bonus points:

  • Previous experience with commerce platforms, website builders and/or web development tools
  • Previous experience marketing to a developer community
