Job Description

Position Overview
Looking for your next challenge in a vibrant, student-focused environment?

Massey University’s Wellington Campus — renowned for its innovation and excellence in education and research — has an exciting fixed-term opportunity for an enthusiastic and service-driven Financial Administrator to join our team.

Based within Accommodation Services, this role plays a crucial part in supporting the financial administration and processes for Massey Halls. Your efforts will help ensure the smooth operation of our student accommodation services, contributing to an exceptional living and learning experience.

Join a team passionate about making a real impact on students' lives.

What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Business Support Manager, you’ll handle the financial and administrative aspects of accommodation services. From assisting with accounts to supporting tenancy management, your work will help create a seamless experience for students.

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualifications welcome but not essential: Practical experience in finance or admin is what matters most.
  • Accounts expertise: Have experience with accounts payable/receivable? You’re already a step ahead.
  • Service champion: You’re great at building rapport and delivering exceptional customer support.
  • Tech-savvy superstar: Comfortable with Microsoft Office and financial systems? Even better if you know StarRez!
  • Finance whiz: Skills like reconciliation, banking, and budget tracking will make you a standout.

Why join us?

  • Fixed-term opportunity: Covering parental leave, a mutually agreed start date in early 2025 to 12 September 2025.
  • Competitive salary: $48,596 to $71,027, depending on your skills and experience.
  • Work with purpose: Be part of a team that puts students first in a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Key dates to note:
We’ll be interviewing during the week of 6 January 2025. Expect interview notifications over the Christmas/New Year period.

The employment setting has a predominance of young adults but can involve work with people across the lifespan and applicants will be required to comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and the Vulnerable Children (Requirements for Safety Checks of Childrens Workers) Regulations 2015.

If you thrive in a dynamic and supportive environment, and you're ready to take on a rewarding challenge, this could be the role for you!
