Position Overview
Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa’s prestigious School of Nursing is seeking a vibrant and engaged Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide exceptional leadership in nursing research and education at one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s top nursing schools. The position is a permanent ongoing role, 1FTE nominally 37.5 hours per week.
The location for this role is either on our Palmerston North or Wellington Campus.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
- Leadership: Drive research innovation in health and science and foster relationships with external stakeholders, the health and technology sectors, and with health organisations, nurse leaders, Iwi and communities.
- Collaboration: Work with international researchers, external stakeholders and interdisciplinary colleagues to shape research activity that can inform the development of new curricula; teach research and evidence-based practice courses, consulting with Nursing and wider stakeholders.
- Cultural Integration: Energise the team while engaging with Te Ao Māori, mātauranga Māori, tikanga, and cultural safety within our programmes.
- Mentorship & Research: Support junior staff in their teaching and research, contribute to a vibrant research culture, and lead successful grant applications.
The salaries (2024) for:
- Senior Lecturer range 2 from $121,346 to $143,948 (NZD).
- Associate Professor ranges from $134,424 to $157,025 (NZD).
- Salary will be negotiable by background/experience.
Ko koe tēnei | About you
- A PhD or equivalent in a health-related field.
- Leadership experience in research and education.
- Demonstrated engagement to form relationships with international researchers, health organisations, Māori providers and Iwi, the nursing profession and wider health sector.
- Strategic ability to develop and lead research using qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including engaging with Kaupapa Māori methodologies.
- Experience in research and professional leadership, curriculum development, and blended teaching approaches including online technologies.
- Excellent communication and relationship management in inter-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of Te Ao Māori, mātauranga Māori, tikanga and cultural safety.
- Publications in national and international journals in health and science-related fields.
- Ability to supervise doctoral students using a range of methodologies.
