About the role:

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Head Teacher to lead our Infants Room at BestStart Omahu! The ideal candidate will bring not only a strong background in working with under-twos, but also experience leading a team, fostering a positive and productive work culture. The Head Teacher will be instrumental in guiding our team in this space, ensuring each team member is empowered to thrive, collaborate, and contribute their best. You will create a fun, inclusive team culture that promotes professional growth, teamwork, and shared success. Your leadership skills will help inspire and motivate the team, enabling them to provide the best possible care and education for our tamariki.

Building strong, trusting relationships with children and families is essential in our centre, and this role will play a key part in fostering those connections. Our under-two's space is licensed for 35 tamariki across 2 rooms, and we are now seeking a second Head Teacher to join our team and support this wonderful age group. This is a permanent fulltime position working 40 hours per week Monday-Friday

Role requirements: We're looking for a natural leader who shares our values and vision who has a good understanding of programme planning and assessment as well as a drive and passion for growth.
As well as:

  • B Ed/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current Teacher Certification
  • A strong understanding of programme planning, pedagogy and curriculum
  • Good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard
  • Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality
