Job Description

The Company
Is a NZ owned, medium sized, long standing reputable business located in East Auckland. Recently under new ownership and with significant growth opportunities in the future, they are now looking for an experienced Planning Manager with strong leadership capability to lead their highly successful team of planners and surveyors.

The Role
Taking accountability for the overall running of the planning and surveying business and drive performance measures to achieve growth

  • Leading, developing and growing individuals in the team to reach their full potential
  • Undertaking various types of planning
  • Managing key projects in the greater Auckland region
  • Liaising and building strong relationships with clients, councils, LINZ and consultants and engage with the
  • community as required
  • Financial and operational management of the office with support from Directors
  • Providing technical leadership whilst also guiding and supporting the planning and surveying team
  • Drive a business development strategy for the team with support from Directors
  • Proposal preparation, job delivery, work planning and financial management tasks
  • Show initiative and provide practical advice to identify solutions to job-specific challenges.


About You

  • Experience as a Senior Planner/Planning Manager
  • Leadership/prior management experience preferable
  • Minimum 10 years’ New Zealand experience in the planning field
  • A thorough understanding of the New Zealand Resource Management Act (RMA) and be able to provide our clients
  • with advice on resource management plans and policies
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in resource planning and/or resource management
  • Have or eligible for membership to the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent people leadership capability, comfortable managing a team of diverse experience and backgrounds
  • Sound technical expertise in the planning field
  • Passion for business development and the ongoing management of client relationships
  • Ability to quickly and effectively establish working relationships within the organisation and with external
  • stakeholders
  • Financial acumen relating to workload forecasting, invoicing and profit/loss analysis
