As a Principal Advisor, your role will be pivotal in shaping the direction of various initiatives. You will be tasked with delivering high-quality strategic policy advice to key stakeholders, leading important projects, and building strong relationships across government sectors. Your ability to leverage potential strategic policy opportunities while managing risk will be crucial. Additionally, you will provide essential support to your team and contribute significantly to internal business priorities.

Expectations:
Deliver high-quality strategic policy advice to Ministers, Boards and Senior Leadership Teams
Lead, manage, drive and deliver priority strategic policy projects
Build strategic policy relationships across government, and sometimes internationally
Leverage potential strategic policy opportunities, managing risk and effectively representing the views of the Minister and organisation
Provide ministerial servicing support to the policy team as required
Provide policy leadership and support to internal business priorities
Assess and manage political and operational risks from a strategic policy perspective in projects and relationships
Have 4-5 years of experience
Bring a strong understanding of Machinery of Government
What you'll bring to a Principal Advisor Position:
Strategic Policy background with experience working in Principal or Senior Policy Advisor positions
Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, manage, and prioritise multiple tasks
Experience in engaging and building relationships with policy staff across government at a very senior level
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to identify strategic opportunities, emerging issues and innovative responses
Excellent judgement and decision making skills
