Te Kowhiringa | The Opportunity

The Civil Construction Carpentry Foreman will hold a wide range of skills and will work both independently and lead a crew to carry out specialised infrastructure building tasks within the Construction team.
Key competencies:

  • Work from detailed construction plans and trouble shoot situations.
  • Lead a crew or carpenters and civil infrastructure workers a day-to-day basis,
  • Use of company resources and contributing to the successful completion of contracts i.e. customers are satisfied, and all targets (Safety, Quality, Environment, Productivity and profit) are achieved.


The core responsibilities of the role will include;

  • Operations: Organise, direct and monitor project operations, identifying tasks and priorities, planning work and assigning resources accordingly.
  • Customer and Public Relations: Liaise with clients and the public as required to ensure work is carried out to the client’s satisfaction and meets company standards.
  • Resource Management: Liaise with resource coordinator to ensure all plant and equipment is available to complete works.
  • People Development: Assist Project Management team in the selection of staff.
  • Zero Harm: Lead by example, driving Zero Harm through operational excellence.


Nga Pukenga Motuhake | Important Skills

At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications

The following would be beneficial for the role but not required:

  • Class 1, 2 Full Drivers Licences
  • Wheels Tracks Rollers (WTR) desirable
  • Experience leading teams to deliver civil construction work is essential
  • Experience with complex concrete structures is essential
  • Experience with general civil construction works is essential
  • Experience with structural repair works is desirable
  • Trade qualification is preferred
  • Problem solving and leadership skills
  • Organised and systematic approach to working environment, attention to detail
  • A good appreciation of associated trades and ability to coordinate tasks for optimum efficiency
  • Able to communicate clearly with good written and verbal skills, plan reading an advantage
  • Strong customer and commercial awareness on site
  • Motivated to do a good job and contribute to team targets, deadlines and goals
