The opportunity:
The purpose of the Reinsurance Analyst is to support preparation of reinsurance premium and recovery details, data bordereaux, reinsurance treaty administration, data extraction / investigations, and developing insights for other finance colleagues and the wider AIA NZ business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide reinsurance administration support including, but not limited to:
  • Claim recoveries from and premium payments to reinsurers
  • Monthly accruals for claim recoveries and premium payments
  • Reinsurance treaty administration


In addition, you will be required to,

  • Extract, reconcile, manipulate and analyse data to produce recovery requests/invoices and associated journals
  • Administer treaties to make sure they are up to date, perform renewals, execute amendments and keeping required treaty governance documents in order
  • Keep the manager(-s) and other key stakeholders up to date regarding work progress
  • Apply and develop software skills including AIA NZ systems, SQL, Python, MS Office package (Excel, Access)
  • Maintain existing tools, models, systems, processes and documentation and proactively contribute to their improvement and development
  • Learn, understand and adhere to AIA NZ’s risk management framework and the relevant policies Identify and raise awareness of risk management issues
  • Assist in investigation of incidents; and
  • Assist in testing of controls and conducting model validations
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet reasonable operational and/or other requirements
  • Engage with teams across AIA (e.g. Product, Customer, Risk) and external reinsurance partners


Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Financial services industry experience (ideally life or health insurance, but other financial services experience will be also considered)
  • At least three years experience in financial analyst or actuarial analyst roles


Qualifications
Tertiary qualification with quantitative background (e.g. mathematics, statistics or engineering) desired
